Job summary

Roehampton Club Ltd is seeking a Greenkeeper to join our golf course team in London. The role starts from a 40-hour week with weekends on a rota and focuses on efficient course preparation and daily turf maintenance using pedestrian and ride-on machinery.

The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance, a keen eye for detail, and prior experience with high-end clubs and tournament support. On-site accommodation and ongoing training are available.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance or equivalent.
• Keen eye for detail and passion for Greenkeeping.
• Experience with high-end clubs and tournament support is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake daily turf maintenance and course preparation using pedestrian and ride-on machinery.
• Assist in course construction and maintain plants.
• Identify grasses, turf pests, diseases and plants.
• Work independently and in a team; participate in departmental meetings.
• Maintain healthy and safe working practices at all times.
• Build effective relationships with managers, colleagues and members.

Reporting To:Head Greenkeeper

Job Purpose:

Based on a 40 hour working week and weekends on a rota basis.

To assist in the daily operations of the Golf Course by ensuring the efficient preparation of the course.

Key Responsibilities:

• To undertake daily turf maintenance and preparation of the course, skillfully operating pedestrian and ride on machinery to maintain the course to the best possible standards of presentation.
• To assist in course construction whilst establishing and maintaining plants.
• To be able to identify different types of grasses, turf pests, diseases and plants.
• To be able to work on your own as well as part of a team.
• To actively contribute to departmental meetings.
• To maintain healthy and safe working practices at all times.
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, colleagues and members.

Whilst full training will be given, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance.
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for Greenkeeping.
• Experience of ‘high end’ clubs and tournament support
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge/experience of construction projects
• Ability to Prepare soil beds and lay turf
• Maintain and check bunker sand depths
• Trained first aider
• Confident in using Pedestrian mowers
• Confidently calibrate and use Fertilizer spreaders
• Tractor driving and the ability to attach/detach attachments safely
• The ability to play golf to a reasonable standard.
• Be a team player and the willingness to go ’the extra mile’.
