Join Erewash Borough Council as a Green Space and Street Scene Officer. Are you passionate about creating vibrant, sustainable outdoor spaces? Do you thrive in a role where community impact, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence come together? Erewash Borough Council is seeking a proactive and reliable Green Space and Street Scene Officer to join our Environmental and Community Services team.

Responsibilities
  • Providing expert horticultural advice on planting, landscaping and green space maintenance.
  • Leading projects in parks such as Victoria Park, West Park and Pewit Coronation Meadows.
  • Collaborating with the Communications team on new landscaping and play area developments.
  • Reviewing and improving the design and location of green facilities.
  • Allocating resources to maintain cost‑effective, high‑quality services.
  • Inspecting and maintaining parks, play areas and open spaces – including Green Flag sites and natural habitats under our Wild About Erewash initiative.
  • Preparing tender documents and monitoring contractor performance.
  • Engaging with residents, volunteers and environmental groups to support local campaigns and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in landscape design, amenity horticulture, parks or street scene operations – ideally within a local authority.
  • HND or degree in horticulture, landscape design or an appropriate subject.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and juggle multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
