Job description

Graphic Designer / Creative Artworker

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: West London

Working pattern: Hybrid (minimum two days a week in the studio)

Software: Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop

About the studio

This is a small, in-house creative team that does one thing, and does it properly: taking genuinely complex technology and turning it into work that people actually understand and enjoy looking at. The subject matter is medical, the science is real, and the design has to carry a lot of weight, which is exactly what makes it interesting. There is nowhere to hide behind a nice photo and a big headline. The craft has to do the talking.

It is a company built around quality rather than volume. Everything sits under one roof, so the designers, the writers, and the people who manage the client relationships all work in the same room and care about the same things. Projects run from brand identities and brochures through to exhibition stands, sales tools, and educational content, which means the work stays varied and you rarely spend two weeks doing the same thing twice.

Here is the honest part, because it matters for the right person. The sector is regulated and technical, and some of it is detailed. What the team is genuinely after is someone who can bring a more creative, more progressive eye to a world that does not always get one. If you have ever looked at technical or corporate material and thought "this could be so much better", this is a place where you would actually get to prove it.

About the role

This is a midweight role with a clear runway. The team is growing, and they are looking for someone ready to step up towards Senior Designer within the next six to twelve months, so the intention to develop you is real and built into the job from day one.

Day to day, you would own projects from brief through to polished, print-ready and digital-ready delivery, working across branding, editorial layout, exhibition materials, and more. The single most valued skill is the ability to take dense, technical, or information-heavy content and make it clear, engaging, and easy to digest. Strong print artworking and a careful eye for finished, production-ready files matter enormously here, and they sit alongside, not instead of, real design thinking.

You would also help shape a small team, giving thoughtful feedback and supporting a junior designer as they find their feet. It suits someone with enough maturity to run their own projects, enough curiosity to keep looking outward for inspiration, and enough generosity to bring the people around them along too. Previous experience in a regulated sector is a nice bonus, not a requirement. The team would happily take someone from outside who can elevate the work and pick up the technical detail as they go.

Your days will look something like this...

  • Design and artwork brochures, branded assets, exhibition materials, sales tools, and educational content
  • Turn complex, technical information into layouts that are clear, considered, and genuinely nice to read
  • Take ownership of projects from brief to final delivery, keeping quality high the whole way through
  • Develop and apply client brand guidelines so every piece feels consistent and deliberate
  • Prepare properly finished, print-ready and digital-ready files, retouching images to a high standard
  • Support and mentor a junior designer, sharing the thinking behind the work
  • Collaborate closely with the account, content, and creative teams to bring ideas to life
  • Keep an eye on the wider design world, bringing fresh references and better ways of working into the studio

You might be our perfect match if...

  • You have solid midweight experience with real breadth across design and artworking
  • Your portfolio shows strong editorial and brochure work: clear hierarchy, confident typography, and layouts that make complicated things feel simple
  • You are a genuinely careful artworker who takes print-ready files seriously and sweats the detail
  • You are comfortable both creating brands and working within someone else's guidelines
  • You can manage your own time across several projects at once without dropping the ball
  • You enjoy helping less experienced designers grow, and you are happy to share how you think
  • You are curious about AI and how it can sharpen and speed up creative work
  • Motion, animation, or presentation design alongside print would be a lovely bonus, though it is not essential

Why this one...

  • A rare chance to bring a fresh, creative eye to a technical sector that genuinely needs one
  • A clear, supported path from midweight towards senior within six to twelve months
  • Varied, meaningful work for companies improving how healthcare is delivered
  • A close-knit, in-house team where your work is seen, valued, and never lost in a machine
  • Flexible working with flexible start and finish times, and only two days a week required in the studio
  • 25 days' holiday, your birthday off when it lands on a weekday, and private health insurance available
