A local government authority in Stratford-upon-Avon is seeking a Graphic Design and Print Apprentice. As part of this apprenticeship, you’ll benefit from dedicated training time—at least 20% of your working hours—to help you achieve the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, while also completing the British Academy of Graphic Design Diploma (BAGD).

This structured learning is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in a Graphic Design and Print role, with full details available on the IfATE and BAGD websites. It’s a fantastic way to grow your career while making an impact in local government.

End of apprenticeship learning outcomes include:

  • Good working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interpreting customer requirements, suggesting alternatives, and producing high-quality artwork for internal and external production.
  • Applying colour theory and appropriate colour schemes for different audiences.
  • Creating artwork with effective typography.
  • Incorporating photographs and graphics into designs.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Design & Production: Learn to design and prepare print-ready materials such as stationery, leaflets, posters, and publications for in-house or external production.
  • Customer Liaison: Communicate with internal customers to understand needs and offer creative, practical solutions.
  • Print Operations: Operate and maintain photocopiers, multi-function devices, and print finishing equipment like guillotines and binding machines.
  • Administrative Support: Keep accurate records of work and assist with post room duties as needed.
What You’ll Need
  • Communication & Teamwork: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience working collaboratively in small teams and across all levels of the organisation.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ICT and keyboarding abilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and operating specialist finishing machinery.
  • Personal Attributes: Organised, reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
  • Learning & Initiative: Willingness to learn new skills, undertake training, and work independently with self-motivation and initiative.
  • Physical & Practical Abilities: Capable of manual tasks such as carrying materials and hand-finishing printed items.

Apprenticeships are funded by the UK Government and there are eligibility rules to establish eligibility for this opportunity.

  • You will have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship or fit the criteria of eligible residency status in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules.
  • You do not already hold the same or similar qualifications.
  • The rules employers and training providers must follow to get funding for training and assessing apprentices in England.
