Graduate Town Planner

Location: Manchester

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly respected and forward thinking planning consultancy in their search for a Graduate Town Planner to join their dynamic team in Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate with a passion for planning and development to kickstart their career within a consultancy that prides itself on delivering creative, practical, and sustainable planning solutions. You'll work on a diverse range of projects across the residential, commercial, and mixed use sectors, gaining valuable experience and professional development support.

The Role

As a Graduate Town Planner, you'll assist senior members of the team in delivering high quality planning advice and managing projects from inception through to determination. Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting planning research and preparing site appraisals.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals.
  • Drafting planning statements, design and access statements, and supporting documents.
  • Engaging with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring local planning policies and contributing to policy consultations.
  • Providing general support to the wider planning team on active projects.
About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • A relevant degree or master's qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited preferred).
  • A genuine enthusiasm for planning and a desire to work towards MRTPI chartership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organisational abilities.
  • A proactive and positive approach to learning and problem solving.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a close knit team.
