Job description

Graduate Teaching Assistant - Primary & SEND

Manchester Full-Time, Long-Term Opportunities

95- 110 per day

Are you a graduate considering a career working with children and young people?

Aspire People is recruiting enthusiastic graduates to work within Primary Schools across South Manchester including areas such as Didsbury, Withington and Chorlton, supporting pupils who may need additional help to engage with learning and achieve their potential.

We're particularly interested in graduates from subjects including Psychology, Criminology, Childhood Studies, Education, Youth Studies, Sociology and related Social Sciences who want to turn their academic knowledge into valuable practical experience.

What could you be doing?

Depending on the school and individual role, you could be:

  • Supporting pupils individually or within small groups.
  • Helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD or SEMH needs.
  • Delivering targeted academic interventions.
  • Supporting communication and emotional regulation.
  • Working with pupils who may be disengaged from education.
  • Helping children build confidence, independence and positive relationships with learning.

Previous school employment isn't essential.

We’d also love to hear from graduates who have gained relevant experience through placements, volunteering, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, children's activities or community organisations.

What matters to us?

We're looking for people who are switched on, proactive and genuinely motivated to work with children.

You'll need the maturity to understand that progress can look different for every pupil, the resilience to work through challenges and the ability to build relationships without lowering expectations.

These opportunities can provide an excellent foundation for future careers within Teaching, Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Therapy, Social Work, SEND or wider children's services.

Our aim is to place graduates into long-term roles wherever possible, allowing you to become part of the school community and gain meaningful experience rather than simply moving between short-term placements.

Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business. Aspire People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject, to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks.
