Job summary

Cundall’s Sustainability & Building Physics team is seeking graduates to join on exciting projects worldwide. You’ll build expertise in energy modelling and help develop energy and sustainability strategies for new builds and existing buildings, with a clear path toward Chartership through accredited schemes.

As you grow, you’ll take on greater responsibilities, supported by mentors, and you’ll contribute to projects across the UK and globally while developing skills in parametric modelling and

Qualifications

  • On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
  • Desirable to have a BEng/MEng in Sustainable Engineering or Built Environment (or equivalent).
  • You have knowledge of building physics, heat transfer, energy and ventilation.
  • Knowledge of daylighting analysis, TM54, and sustainability tools (BREEAM, life cycle costing) is beneficial.
  • Digital engineering focus with Grasshopper/Dynamo or a modern programming language.

Responsibilities

  • Develop energy modelling and assist with energy and sustainability strategies for new and existing buildings.
  • Work on building physics, performance, and certification tasks.
  • Support health, wellbeing, and ESG services as part of projects.
  • Collaborate with clients and teams to meet project deadlines.

The Role You'll Play

This is an excellent opportunity for talented sustainability graduates to join our teams to work on some of the most exciting sustainable design projects in UK and around the world.

Working under the guidance and supervision of the experienced team, you’ll develop your existing knowledge and skills in energy modelling and assist with the development of energy and sustainability strategies for new build and existing buildings. You will find yourself working on projects that fall within the following workstreams:

  • Building physics and parametric model services
  • Building performance and operational energy optimisation
  • Certification and compliance
  • Health and wellbeing advice and guidance
  • Net zero and whole life carbon services
  • Sustainability design and ESG services

With the opportunity to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop over time, you’ll be supported and encouraged to work towards Chartership through one of our accredited training schemes.

The Skills You'll Bring
  • On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
  • Desirable if accredited with or on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree level in Sustainable Engineering or the Built Environment (or equivalent).
  • You have demonstrable knowledge and experience of building physics, particularly in relation to heat transfer, energy, thermal comfort and natural ventilation.
  • A working knowledge of climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation using TM54, sustainability rating tools such as BREEAM and life cycle carbon costing would also be really beneficial.
  • Digital engineering is a big focus at Cundall, so ideally, you’ll have an understanding of Parametric ModellingTechniques(Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB).
  • You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, striving to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.
