Job Description

The Graduate Sales Engineer will play a key role in supporting the Oil & Gas and Marine Engine Sales Team across technical, commercial, and marketing functions. This role is designed for a graduate with an engineering background who is looking to develop their technical sales expertise while contributing to the delivery of high-quality solutions to our customers.

Working across sales and sales support functions, the Graduate Sales Engineer will be mentored to build strong commercial acumen, technical knowledge, and customer relationship skills, with the aim of progressing into a Sales Engineer role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in generating high-quality sales leads and identifying customer requirements both now and for the future, supporting the growth of new engine/power generation sales in the Oil & Gas and Marine sectors.
  • Support preparation & delivery of technical sales quotes, proposals, and presentations for customers.
  • Participate in customer visits, site surveys, and industry events to develop market awareness.
  • Undertake market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Work with marketing and sales teams to develop targeted campaigns and lead generation activities.
  • Support governance and KPI adherence, ensuring business systems are updated accurately.
  • Assist in sales coverage analysis and territory planning.
  • Contribute to the development of product knowledge resources, including technical data sheets and customer-facing materials.
Education & Experience
  • Degree / Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline).
  • Interest or experience in technical sales or customer-facing engineering roles desirable.
  • Previous internship, placement, or work experience in an engineering or sales environment advantageous.
  • Awareness of industrial engine/power generation applications and the markets they serve.
  • Strong IT and analytical skills – ability to use Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and analyse market data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.
  • Willingness to learn, be proactive, and show initiative.
