Job summary

Ryder Reid Legal is seeking an Early Careers Manager (12-month FTC) to lead UK early careers recruitment and development programmes from their London office. You will shape trainee schemes, manage a Recruitment Assistant, and partner with university networks to ensure an exceptional candidate experience.

The role focuses on strategy delivery, appraisal, mentoring, and pathways for trainees, with emphasis on inclusion and career development within a global law firm.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ relevant work experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services firm.
• Commitment to inclusion in all aspects of recruitment and development.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the UK early careers strategy in line with the Firm’s wider talent goals.
• Line manage the Early Careers Recruitment Assistant, supporting performance and development.
• Partner with business leaders to forecast trainee and apprentice hiring needs.
• Oversee trainee appraisal, development and mentoring programmes, including seat reviews and appraisals.
• Build and maintain relationships with universities, student societies and early careers organisations.
• Manage the end-to-end Trainee Solicitor recruitment process, from application to onboarding.
• Manage trainee seat rotations and qualification processes, providing guidance to trainees, Partners and key stakeholders.
• Provide pastoral support to trainees, working closely with HR as needed.
• Oversee the Firm’s Scholarship programme.
