Job summary

AECOM is seeking graduates to join its railway engineering team in the UK. The role involves integrating designs from signalling, track and civils, planning phased construction, and delivering safe, sustainable solutions for rail projects across major infrastructure programmes.

You will work with mentors in a collaborative environment, contributing to projects that enhance urban mobility and station ecosystems while developing your professional expertise within a global infrastructure firm.

Qualifications

• BEng or MSc in Civil Engineering with 2:1 or equivalent.
• MEng in Civil Engineering 2:1 would be advantageous.
• Rail modules would be advantageous.
• Strong enthusiasm, work ethic and drive.
• Good MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Clear communication with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Integrating engineering designs from rail discipline areas (signalling, permanent way, civils).
• Plan construction and commissioning phasing to minimise passenger disruption.
• Ensure designs maximise sustainability across life of assets.
• Develop safe-to-build designs for operation and maintenance, protecting passengers.
• Produce concept designs addressing client challenges in rail renewal and enhancement.
• Work on structural inspection and design of bridges and railway structures.
• Perform analysis and calculations for new civil/structural components.
• Design railway stations and urban realm improvements.
