Job summary

JN Bentley is recruiting a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project. The role involves providing commercial support to delivery management and on-site teams on a major potable water transfer project for Anglian Water in East Anglia.

You will assist with robust estimates, procurement strategy, and live forecasting while developing cost control and assurance skills on site from day one.

Qualifications

• A 2:2 degree or above in engineering, management or cost discipline.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive, detail-driven approach and willingness to learn.
• Full UK driving licence (or working towards it).

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring robust estimates align to scope and include risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with Lead Quantity Surveyor, Procurement, Construction and Project Management to develop procurement strategy.
• Attend site regularly to manage allowances, provide challenge to improve performance, and track change control.
• Assist in producing accurate live forecasts aligned with work breakdown structures.
• Monitor actual costs against baseline and inform cost progression and final outturn.
• Maintain proper records for audits and cost assurance.

Mott MacDonald Bentley are recruiting for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA).

The 330km Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) Project by Anglian Water is under construction and will be completed during AMP8. Beyond this we have a further 260km of water transfer pipelines and associated infrastructure to be delivered in AMP8.

We are looking for a motivated Graduate to provide commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site teams our major potable water transfer project. This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively in a high-demand sector, developing this project that will protect the environment and support communities across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, transfer of data to the procurement system and Cost Base
• Work closely with the Lead Quantity Surveyor, Procurement team, Construction Manager and Project Manager to develop and monitor procurement strategy.
• Work closely with the site team, attending site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenge to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escape when necessary.
• Assist the Quantity Surveyor to produce accurate live forecasting, taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure/ cost breakdown structure.
• Ensure actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations.
• Ensure that proper records are kept & maintained so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
