Job summary

GRAHAM Academy in London is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join its civil engineering team. You will support the commercial management of projects, check sub-contractor payments, prepare cost forecasts and assist with take-offs and site measurements.

The role requires studying Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and strong communication skills; a full driving licence and right to work in the UK are essential. A car allowance and other benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Studying Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management to degree level at university or technical college
• Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices
• Demonstrate strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Check and process sub-contract payments for work completed
• Ensure that Subcontractors are not charging for work that wasn’t completed
• Produce schedules of what materials etc. are needed to complete a project so that these can be ‘bought’ from sub-contractors
• Prepare and manage the accounts for projects
• Produce regular reports on cost & value
• Produce spend profiles and regular forecasts for projects
• Identify and manage risk and opportunities
• Take off drawings
• Site measurement
• Liaise with those onsite to obtain site records and reconciling these against works claimed
• Agree changes with Client’s commercial team
• Deal with all legal contracts and their clauses for a project
