Construction / Manufacturing Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver Commercial Management Services for individual projects.
- Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
- Provide assistance to the Senior QS, supporting all commercial issues within the Project(s).
Team Working
- Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
- Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
- Delegate appropriate work to junior staff while maintaining accountability.
Commercial Service Delivery
- Prepare internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
- Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
- Prepare Cost Reports to the Client with contract‑compliant supporting documentation.
- Prepare and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
- Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from detailed requisitions to payment authorisation and final account agreements.
- Undertake contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
- Challenge & manage cost control / cost mitigation.
- Maintain correct site records.
- Implement a WBS structure to satisfy Client & Contract requirements.
- Assist with preparing the Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the project(s).
- Prepare change events, extension of time claims, final accounts, etc.
- Measure quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement.
- Ensure appropriate Client Management is initiated and maintained.
- Help maximise the cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans.
- Maintain & assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
- Undertake any other work as required by your line manager.
Corporate Development
- Attend client engagement events for equivalent level customer feedback.
- Participate in Business Improvement Initiatives.
Entry Requirements
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics.
- On route to being a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
- Full UK or Irish driving licence.
- Relevant competency skills cards.
Skills / Experience
- Construction experience (desirable).
- Commercially astute with excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
- Good communication skills, including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade.
- Knowledge of Civil Engineering and Steel Structures.
- Experience in estimating and takeoffs (desirable).
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Personal ownership of your development.
- Team working skills.
Additional Requirements
- Full UK or Irish driving licence required due to project locations.
- Eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit if applicable; no sponsorship will be provided.
- May be required to work away from your home location within the UK/Ireland during the 2‑year programme.
