Job summary

Nicholas Associates Graduate Placements is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham to join a Groundworks and Civil Engineering sub-contractor working with major housebuilders. The role covers cost planning, commercial control, value management and liaison with site teams and clients.

You should have recently graduated with a Quantity Surveying degree, strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), good financial acumen and the ability to travel across the UK.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with Quantity Surveying degree.
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen.
• Practical, methodical, and analytical approach.
• Willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
• Valid UK Driving Licence required.

Responsibilities

• Work within the Quantity Surveying Team to manage all commercial elements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Minimise costs and enhance value for money.
• Achieve standards and quality per contract and client expectations.
• Identify and address contracting and commercial risks and opportunities.
• Cost planning and contract engagement.
• Source materials based on cost and quality.
• Attend progress meetings to address commercial matters.
• Liaise with site team, supply chain and Clients' representatives.
• Support the project manager with contractual obligations.

THE COMPANY:

The company is a Groundworks and Civil Engineering company operating as a sub-contractor for most of the major and regional housebuilders, as well as other market sectors.

THE ROLE:

• Working within the Quantity Surveying Team to manage all commercial elements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Minimise costs and enhance value for money
• Achieve the required standards and quality in accordance with contract and client expectations.
• Ensuring contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified and addressed.
• Cost planning and contract engagement
• Sourcing specified materials based on cost & quality.
• Attend progress meetings to respond to commercial matters raised.
• Ongoing liaison with site team, supply chain and Clients' representatives
• Support and advise the project manager in respect of fulfilment of all contractual obligations.

YOU:

• Recently graduated with a Quantity Surveying degree.
• Competent IT skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen.
• Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure as part of a team and individually
• Willing to travel to sites throughout the UK.
• Valid UK Driving Licence
