Job summary
GKR Scaffolding Ltd in London is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor / Estimator – Pre-Construction to join the Commercial and Pre-Construction/Bid Team. You will learn from experienced professionals and gain exposure to the full commercial process from tender enquiry to final account.
This role is not desk-only; you will be on site, reading contracts and understanding how design and on-site decisions affect costs.
Qualifications
- Interest in numbers and contracts.
- Willingness to visit site and understand practical realities behind figures.
Responsibilities
- Help develop and submit tenders with experienced estimators.
- Understand scope requirements and develop scaffold solutions for projects.
- Read contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Assist with budgets, valuations, variations and monitor project performance.
- Develop commercial systems and reporting across the business.
- Use drawings, 3D models, quantities and material schedules to support estimates.
- Spend time on site to understand buildability and cost impact.
- Shadow site management to understand how projects operate.
- Attend meetings, engage with clients and communicate decisions.
- Build long-term relationships with clients and project teams.
- Take increasing ownership of tenders and commercial responsibilities.
