You are encouraged to spend at least three days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

An opportunity has arisen within the GCAP MRFS Project Management Team for a Graduate Project Manager. The MRFS team is entering an exciting phase of the lifecycle as we prepare for receipt of the first International Contract that will see Leonardo UK & Partners, Leonardo Italy and Mitsubishi Electronics & Electronica enter a consortium to deliver a world‑leading Electronics Solution for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). The MRFS (Multi‑Function Radio Frequency System) is a major Sensor within this solution and its development will be critical to the overall success of the programme.

The role will be based in Edinburgh and require at least four days of working on‑site, and to be cleared to UK Security Check (SC) level. Some national or international travel may be required.

As a Graduate Project Manager you will work across the Integrated Project Team supporting Project Managers to deliver the GCAP project as well as various Technical Demonstrator projects. You will gain experience in key areas such as project schedules, risk and opportunity management, project costs and stakeholder management. You will get exposure to different functional areas including Software Development & Systems Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver small‑medium sized projects or work packages, reporting on progress, issues, schedule and cost to the Project Manager.
  • Work closely with the MRFS Software Project Manager supporting the development of Agile ways of working and the delivery of software into three projects.
  • Work with Project Manager coordinating and supporting a range of activities across an international demonstrator project.
  • Work closely with Engineering Management and other supporting functions to build relationships and develop ways of working.
  • Manage Stakeholders (both internal and external) and gain exposure to an International consortium and customer base.
  • Develop to Association of Project Management Qualification (APMQ) level.
Key Skills You Will Use and Develop
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills; excellent communicator, strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Project management skills such as risk management, schedule management, cost and earned value management. Understanding of Project Management methodologies including Waterfall and Agile (Scrum/SAFe).
  • Leadership skills bringing teams together and building strong teams and influence colleagues who may be more senior or experienced.

What We Need From You

All of our roles require a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelors/Integrated Master’s degree, or a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD. For the Graduate Project Manager role acceptable degrees are in Manufacturing, Technology, Business, Aerospace Engineering.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
