Graduate Procurement Assistant
Location: Chester or Swansea
Salary: £29,000
Contract: Full Time Permanent
You'll support the procurement and commercial delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through construction and handover.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and issuance of tender documentation.
- Support supplier onboarding and prequalification using platforms such as Achilles and the Common Assessment Standard.
- Coordinate the evaluation of supplier proposals and support contract award processes.
- Draft and administer contracts, predominantly under the NEC suite.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Assist with procurement planning and scheduling aligned to project milestones.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
- Maintain procurement records and systems, including spend tracking and vendor databases.
- Contribute to market engagement and supplier relationship development.
- Support sustainability, innovation and value‑for‑money initiatives.
- Support governance processes including approvals, reporting and audit readiness.
- Execute requisition processes for business requirements (commodities, supplies, construction services, third‑party rental equipment) using the Binnies finance system (Focal Point).
Attributes
- Motivated to support impactful water and environmental projects through effective procurement.
- Interested in pursuing a professional qualification such as CIPS.
- Hold a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Driven to develop and improve commercial and procurement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft programmes such as SharePoint, Excel, Word, Power BI and PowerPoint.
- Able to work under time pressure and balance multiple priorities.
- Previous experience in procurement, commercial or supply chain roles is an advantage but not required.
