Job Title: Graduate Chemical Engineer (12-Month FTC)

Our client is a leading manufacturer of aerosol and bag-on-valve products, serving diverse sectors including personal care, healthcare, veterinary, automotive, and more. They're offering a unique opportunity for a Graduate Chemical Engineer to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain practical industry experience and exposure to high-impact projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • HAZOP & Process Safety Support
    • Assist in planning and documenting Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies
    • Contribute to the development of HAZID and HAZOP procedures and documentation
    • Support risk assessments and follow-up actions
    • Prepare and update P&IDs, site maps, and layout drawings
  • Engineering & Technical Projects
    • Support process development and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Help prepare technical documentation, reports, and SOPs
    • Collect and analyse data for engineering and safety studies
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Technical, and HSE teams on practical solutions
  • General Responsibilities
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies
    • Maintain accurate records and contribute to regular project updates
    • Proactively engage in learning and professional development
What We’re Looking For
  • BSc or MSc in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability
  • Basic knowledge of chemical hazards and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A genuine interest in process safety and industrial operations
Desirable
  • Previous experience with HAZID/HAZOP (e.g. through a placement)
  • Understanding of process safety in a manufacturing environment
