Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking a Graduate Optical Engineer to join its Advanced Targeting line in Edinburgh. The 18-month programme develops you across the full lifecycle of optical systems, with on-site collaboration and state-of-the-art tools.

A starting salary of £34,000 plus a £1,000 welcome bonus and a £1,000 exit bonus awaits successful candidates. Expect hands-on engagement across requirements analysis, concept design, and test activities, with placements in three lifecycle phases and

Qualifications

• Requires a 2:1 master's or higher (EngD/PhD).
• Experience in photonics from placements or projects.
• Strong technical writing and project planning skills required.
• Excellent analytical and modelling abilities; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Progress development towards Optical Engineer level within 18 months.
• Participate in three product lifecycle phase placements: NPI, Detailed design, and Novel concepts.
• Assist with drawings, tolerancing, and development of experiments to prove designs.
