Job description

Are you a recent mechanical engineering graduate ready to turn ideas into products built for demanding environments?

Join INVISIO and work across the full product lifecycle, from early concepts and detailed design to prototypes, production drawings and manufacturing support.

INVISIO develops and delivers advanced communication and hearing-protection solutions for defence and public-safety users. At our Croxley site, you will join a multidisciplinary environment where mechanical engineering contributes directly to reliable, high-quality products designed for severe operating conditions.

About the job

As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join the Mechanical Design team and contribute to development projects. You will take ownership of mechanical design tasks from concept through production support, working in small, multidisciplinary teams to turn technical requirements into practical, traceable and manufacturable solutions. The role reports to the Engineering Manager, Mechanical Design.

Key responsibilities
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for all aspects of mechanical product design, from concept through to manufacturing support
  • Work within small, multi-disciplined teams to deliver defined work packages
  • Organise and prioritise personal workloads to deliver on time, to budget and to specification
  • Provide input and support to analyse technical requirements, specifications and associated standards, and produce comprehensive, traceable specifications
  • Deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions using industry best practices
  • Design to ensure a product can be made reliably and repeatedly
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation including mechanical drawings, BOMs and design specifications
  • Conduct assessments of prototypes and final parts.
  • Undertaking other duties reasonably required, which are appropriate with the level and nature of the role.
About you

You are curious, structured, and keen to build your engineering judgement in a collaborative product-development environment. You approach problems creatively, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your work.

What you’ll bring:
  • 2:1 or above bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Be working towards or be registered with a relevant professional institution
  • Experience of using 3D CAD design software, preferably CREO
  • Ability to analyse designs using hand calculations or FEA tools
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques
  • Familiar with PLM and CAD data management systems
  • Understanding of common manufacturing methods including injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication and metal machining techniques
  • An understanding of user centric and human factors design
  • Understanding of the mechanical aspects of acoustics (desirable)
  • Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas
What we offer
  • A hands-on graduate role with exposure to the complete product lifecycle.
  • The opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues across mechanical engineering and other technical disciplines.
  • A varied role where you can contribute to real products, technical documentation and manufacturing support from the start.
  • An international workplace built around customer focus, passion, innovation and working as one team.

We believe in equal opportunities for all and encourage all suitable candidates to apply for our open positions.
