Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is hiring a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical, Electrical and Process Team. You will support design and build projects, working on-site or in the office depending on project phase, with travel around the South West Water region.

You will collaborate with a site Project Team, liaise with clients and suppliers, and develop your skills toward Chartered status. Summer 2027 start on a framework role offers varied development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• An ability to develop understanding of civil engineering principles and practices that are impacted by M&E.
• Have excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of design and build construction projects predominantly within the Water and Wastewater sectors.
• Work on-site with the project team in coordinating multiple aspects of projects, with time in the office for project management, design and commercial tasks.
• Liaise with clients and supply chain; manage M&E suppliers and sub-contractors on site.
• Review constructability of drawings and designs from suppliers.
• Assist with safety culture, documentation, O&M manuals and commissioning plans.

About The Role

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will work as part of the Mechanical, Electrical and Process Team to provide support in the delivery of multi-disciplined projects. You will be based in an operational office or out on site depending on the delivery phase of the project. If working on site, you will be working alongside a commissioning engineer. A supportive team will be behind you, and you’ll be given every opportunity to progress and develop your skills and get involved in the work carried out by an Mechanical Engineer each day. This role is working for our South West Water framework, so travel around their region is required.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will help support the delivery of design and build construction projects predominantly within the Water and Wastewater sectors.
• Though largely ‘onsite’ supporting the site Project Team in coordinating multiple aspects of projectsyou will spend time office based with project management, design and commercial colleagues
• Liaising with our clients and supply chain and involved in direct management of our projects through our Mechanical & Electrical suppliers
• Reviewing constructability of drawings and designs of Suppliers
• Overseeing the activities of M&E Sub-Contractors & Suppliers on the Site
• Assist with maintaining our safety culture of our critical designs, health & safety documentation, O&M manuals, and commissioning plans.

• Graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
• Valid driving license
• An ability to develop understanding of civil engineering principles and practices that are impacted by M&E. Have excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
