Role Highlights

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to turn your university learning into real-world impact, tackling complex engineering problems that make a difference. You'll work across a variety of industries, from Defence, Energy, Nuclear Clean up and Advanced Technology. Every project brings new challenges – whether it's the design of mechanical and remote handling equipment, applying thermodynamics in practical applications, designing new piping and vessels for pressure systems, you'll be building the skills that define your engineering future. From day one, you'll play an active role in projects that span the full lifecycle – from research and optioneering to design, analysis, testing, and commissioning. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, learning how to integrate ideas across specialisms to deliver safe, innovative, and effective solutions.

Qualifications
  • Have completed an undergraduate or master's degree (e.g. mechanical engineering degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject by summer 2026.
  • Strong communication: Ability to engage with technical and non‑technical personnel clearly and confidently.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail and interest in mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Organisation & time‑management skills: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eager to take ownership, ask questions, and seek out opportunities to grow.
  • Understanding of digital platforms and how they can be applied to solve engineering problems is also beneficial.
  • A flexible self‑starter who is keen to drive their career forward.
  • Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things.

Program Eligibility

Our Graduate Programme assumes that participants are commencing their first professional role post‑graduation. To qualify:

  • Completed your first degree no earlier than the summer of 2024.
  • Not worked in a similar professional role since graduation.
  • Achieved a minimum 2:2 in your first degree.
