Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join its UK engineering team. You will develop 3D models and drawings, support product design, and work closely with manufacturing and quality colleagues to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles and fundamentals.
• Experience using 3D CAD software through university projects, placements or internships.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing principles.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem–solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and keen to develop within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models, assemblies and engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Support the design and development of new and existing mechanical products.
• Assist with design modifications and product improvements based on customer and manufacturing feedback.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Liaise with production, quality and commercial teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable and cost–effective.
• Ensure engineering work is completed in accordance with relevant standards, specifications and company procedures.
