Overview

Location: UK - Bath. Department: Technical Capability. Job Title: Graduate Marine Engineer (October 2026 Start). Permanent role. Hybrid working: work from home and one of our UK offices; travel to customer sites and BMT offices may be required.

Salary: £34,500 per year.

Job Details

This is a graduate role within BMT's Marine Engineering team in the UK & Europe region. You will receive training from experienced engineers and will be supported on your journey toward Chartered Engineer status.

Responsibilities
  • Join the Marine Engineering team and work on a variety of projects and research across Defence and Commercial domains, covering ships, submarines, and the wider marine engineering market.
  • Contribute to training and project experience that can influence your development and potential to become Chartered.
  • Develop designs for new build and in-service vessels, and assist with management of in-service support requirements; work with new and emergent technologies to provide solutions that are fit for today and the future.
  • Collaborate with clients and teams to deliver bespoke solutions and support the broader project objectives.
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree such as Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
  • An interest to work within the Maritime domain.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Pride in work and a desire to deliver a first-class service to clients.
  • Determination to further your career and gain Chartered Engineer status.

  • Two-year development programme to equip you with knowledge, skills and experience to advance your career.
  • Support for Chartership, including paying membership fees and mentorship where appropriate.
  • Opportunities to work across a range of technical projects, helping solve clients’ problems and delivering innovative, bespoke solutions.
  • Desire to work with maritime platforms and willingness to consider mechanical or electrical-based degrees; encouragement for Electrical/Electro-Mechanical backgrounds with study in power generation, distribution, and control systems.
