Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Graduate Hydrogeologist for our Reading office to join the Water Environment discipline. You will support groundwater modelling, environmental assessments, and field data analysis as part of a growing team offering hands-on training and professional progression.

You will work on projects across water resources, groundwater and environmental impact studies, with a focus on software like GIS and MODFLOW, while pursuing relevant accreditations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geography, environmental science, civil engineering or a relevant discipline.

The Opportunity

Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Hydrogeologist in our Reading office, where you will be part of our Water Environment discipline and help deliver high-quality hydrogeology, groundwater and environmental assessment work for clients across the water sector and beyond.

A briefing form has been completed for this role. The successful candidate will join a Reading-based Water Environment team of approximately seven people, including around five hydrogeology specialists, with access to experienced colleagues across our wider UK network.

You will support projects including groundwater modelling and hydrogeological assessments, water resource assessments, groundwater abstraction and borehole design, environmental impact assessments, Water Framework Directive assessments, major infrastructure and environmental projects, and groundwater and hydrometric field monitoring.

About The Role

This role will actively support progression with the Geological Society of London or CIWEM, alongside hands‑on training in hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, GIS and environmental assessment.

Your Impact

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting projects that improve understanding of groundwater systems, water resources and environmental impacts. Your work will contribute to sustainable decision‑making across public water company, environmental, regulatory and major infrastructure projects.

We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in geology, geography, environmental science, civil engineering or a relevant discipline. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, while experience with GIS software, Python, groundwater modelling such as MODFLOW, and analytical or numerical modelling would be beneficial.
