Our Civil Engineering team is growing, and we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Flood Risk Engineer to join our expanding Water & Environment discipline. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy where your ideas and development truly matter.

The Role

As a Graduate Flood Risk Engineer, you\'ll play a key role in supporting our flood risk and drainage projects across a wide range of sectors — from residential and commercial developments to infrastructure and environmental schemes. You\'ll work closely with experienced engineers to deliver high-quality technical work and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of flood risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategies
  • Assisting in the design of surface water management systems and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic modelling using industry software (e.g. MicroDrainage, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS)
  • Contributing to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and planning submissions
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and internal design teams
  • Preparing technical drawings, reports, and presentations
About You

We\'re looking for someone proactive, curious, and eager to learn — someone who wants to develop their technical skills while contributing to projects that make communities safer and more resilient.

Essential
  • A degree (or about to graduate) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline
  • A strong interest in flood risk management and sustainable drainage
  • Good analytical, numerical, and report-writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an interest in learning relevant design and modelling software
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
  • Experience (e.g. placement, dissertation, or internship) related to flood risk or drainage
  • Awareness of current UK planning and drainage policy
What We Offer
  • A structured graduate training programme and clear route towards professional qualification (ICE / CIWEM)
  • Opportunities to work on diverse, real-world projects from day one
  • Ongoing mentoring and professional development
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Friendly, collaborative working environment with flexible working options
