Job description
Graduate Environmental Health Officer

Salary: £35,518 to £44,936 per annum, plus £2,907 Car Allowance per annum. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community Protection Team within the shared Environmental Health Service for Rother and Wealden District Councils. This service covers a large rural area of outstanding natural beauty in East Sussex, located on the South Coast and bordering Eastbourne and Hastings. The area includes the towns of Bexhill, Crowborough, Uckfield, Battle, Hailsham, and Rye.

The Community Protection Team handles a wide range of responsibilities, including investigating nuisance complaints and related issues, responding to planning and licensing consultations, managing Pollution Prevention Controls, assessing air quality, and addressing complaints about conditions in the private rented sector.

As a Graduate Environmental Health Officer you would be expected to obtain your registration as an Environmental Health Officer with the CIEH and become competent in food safety, which we will assist you with.

The Community Protection Team is part of a wider Environmental Health Service that also includes Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Licensing teams. We have offices in Hailsham and Bexhill, and team members work flexibly‑combining home working with site visits and spending at least two days per week in the office.
