Job summary

Breath HR in the United Kingdom is seeking a graduate engineer to work with experienced engineers on and off-site, developing skills and independence while contributing to the design and analysis of engineering projects.

You will assist in preparing designs, calculations, and reports, learn to use design codes and standards, and gain exposure to client liaison and project management, budgeting, and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above.
  • Demonstrate commitment to undertake continuous professional development towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.

  • Assist in the preparation of fee/tender proposals.

Job description

As a graduate engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers on and off‑site to develop skills and independence while working on the design and analysis of engineering projects.

You will be involved in the technical aspects of engineering projects, supporting the preparation of designs, calculations, and reports.

This role will provide opportunities for involvement and skill development in client liaison and project management, encompassing both time and budget management.

  • Attend site visits and surveys under supervision.

Person Specification
Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE‑accredited course.
  • A 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above.
  • Demonstrate commitment to undertake continuous professional development towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.
Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical analysis and design software and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to comply with Quality Assurance Management Systems.
Experience

Internship or project experience in a relevant area.
