Job summary

Stantec in Leeds is seeking a Graduate Ecologist to join the Ecology team within Environmental Services. The role blends field surveys with office analysis on water projects, including habitats surveys, protected species assessments, PEAs, and EcIA.

You will work alongside engineers and clients, contribute to Biodiversity Net Gain, and progress toward Chartered status with CIEEM. A bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or environmental sciences is preferred, with a keen interest in the water

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field and interest in water industry.
• Patience and motivation to learn, adapt and collaborate in a field-based role.
• Eligible to work in the UK without restriction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys including habitat classification and protected species assessments.
• Map and evaluate terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems impacted by water projects.
• Produce PEAs and detailed protected species survey reports.
• Assist in EcIA and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations.
• Support ecological design of nature-based solutions and collaboration with engineers.
