Job description

Our IT Team deliver reliable, secure, and innovative technology solutions across the firm. From providing day to day technical support to driving digital transformation projects, the team ensures colleagues have the tools and systems they need to work effectively and deliver exceptional client service.

This is the perfect first role for someone who has recently completed a degree (or equivalent) and wants to build software in a business setting rather than a software house.

You will work alongside the team to build and maintain the internal tools, integrations and automations that our fee earners and support teams rely on. Typically, that means moving data between systems that were never designed to talk to each other, replacing manual spreadsheet processes with something reliable, and building reporting that gives our partners a clear view of the business.

We will give you real responsibility early, but you will be fully supported. We also fund professional qualifications and certifications relevant to your role.

What you’ll be doing
  • Building integrations between our practice management system, HR platform, CRM, resource planning tool and Microsoft 365, using REST APIs, Power Automate, UiPath and scripting
  • Writing and optimising SQL queries to extract, transform and validate data from our core systems
  • Developing internal applications and workflows using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) and Python or C#/.NET
  • Building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards for operational and board level reporting
  • Contributing to our robotic process automation programme, automating repetitive, high volume tasks in our tax and audit teams
  • Supporting the rollout and configuration of new business systems, including data migration and testing
  • Documenting what you build, so that someone else can pick it up and maintain it
  • Working directly with colleagues across the firm to understand their needs
What we need from you

Ideally you will:

  • Have a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related subject, or demonstrable equivalent experience through self teaching, apprenticeship or personal projects
  • Grasp relational databases and have the ability to write SQL
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Azure, the Power Platform, or Power BI
  • Have an interest in AI and automation, and how they can be applied responsibly to professional services work
  • Have great attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Be a confident communicator, and ask questions of people who are not technical

We understand that not everyone will come with these exact requirements. If your experience isn’t a complete match but you feel you could bring a lot to AG, we’d still encourage you to apply so that we can learn more about you!

What we can give you in return

We offer a fantastic place to work with a competitive and flexible benefits package. This includes:

  • A minimum of 25 days holiday which increases with length of service. Plus, the option to buy and sell holiday
  • An annual salary review
  • A Level 1 Medicash Plan provided to all employees
  • Life assurance, which includes access to a smart health app
  • An employee assistance programme for you and your family
  • One volunteering day per year
  • Cinema society discounts
  • GymFlex discounts
  • Bupa private medical insurance available
  • Electric car and cycle to work schemes
