Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Cirencester is seeking a Junior Design Engineer for a permanent position. The role involves creating 3D and 2D designs using CAD software, collaborating with manufacturing providers, and participating in product assembly. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and proficiency in CAD tools. Graduates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (not essential).
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles.

Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software.
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers.
  • Collaborate in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects.

About the Company

My client specialises in fabrication across a range of industries and is looking to take on a Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Cirencester area. Graduates will also be considered.

Qualifications and Attributes
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (not essential)
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.
  • Solid theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small multidisciplinary team
  • Capacity to carry out mechanical calculations
  • Desirable experience with process machinery or steel/metal materials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Work within the current engineering team alongside other Design Engineers
  • Produce 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers
  • Participate in final assembly of products
  • Create required documentation for design and project reports/plans
  • Update 3D models and drawings
  • Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs
  • Check drawings for sign‑off
  • Collaborate in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
