Graduate Civil Engineering Technician

Role Overview

• Provide technical support to projects within the region – during construction and project close‑out phases.
• Support the design, planning and execution of construction projects.
• Prepare technical drawings, designs and plans using AutoCAD.
• Assist in the preparation of design calculations and specifications in line with project requirements.
• Undertake setting out of construction works to ensure accuracy and adherence to project plans.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Address any design issues identified during the construction phase.
• Supervise contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and plan any remedial work.
• Ensure current revisions of drawings are being used on site.
• Conduct site surveys and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications.

Health, Safety & Environmental

• Ensure construction activities adhere to UK Building Regulations, environmental standards and health and safety requirements.
• Carry out risk assessments.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities to obtain relevant permits and ensure project compliance.
• Comply with company procedures and legal obligations.

Technical Support

• Support Civil Engineers in preparing project documentation, including reports, schedules and cost estimates.
• Interpret technical drawings and guide site teams to ensure clarity and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in civil engineering.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of construction methods and processes, and civil engineering principles.
• Experience in using AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Attention to detail with a proactive approach to identify and resolve issues.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and staff.
