Overview

Graduate Civil Engineer – Bristol. 1 to 2 years experience required. Exciting opportunity to kickstart your civil engineering career with a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of infrastructure projects within a leading consultancy known for its collaborative team environment, technical excellence, and commitment to professional development.

You'll be joining a growing civil engineering team of eight, working on diverse residential, commercial, and industrial developments across the South West and beyond. Gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and delivery. The firm prides itself on its supportive culture, where graduates are encouraged to take on responsibility early, backed by ongoing mentorship from experienced engineers. Two members of the team have recently achieved chartered status, reflecting the company\'s strong support for professional progression.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare pre-purchase feasibility studies and address planning conditions, including highways and drainage considerations.
  • Support flood risk assessments in collaboration with the in-house flood modelling team.
  • Develop SuDS and drainage strategies at the planning stage.
  • Produce detailed design drawings and calculations for technical approvals (S278, S38, S104, Building Control, NHBC, etc.).
  • Prepare 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill analysis, and road profiling.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, water companies, and statutory bodies.
  • Attend meetings, public exhibitions, and site inspections as required.
  • Work proactively toward professional chartership (ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent).
About You
  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Approximately one to two years\' relevant experience within a civil engineering consultancy.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (or similar design software).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • A keen eye for detail, excellent organisation, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning and progression.
