Job description
Graduate Civil Engineer – Warwick

2 years experience

Are you a Graduate Civil Engineer with around two years of consultancy experience, ready to stop being a "helper" and start driving projects in the development infrastructure sector?

If you’re looking for a clear trajectory to becoming a Chartered Engineer, a well-established engineering firm is offering a key role in their thriving Warwick office. This isn’t just about drawing plans; it’s about joining a supportive team that empowers its rising talent to take technical ownership and build a first‑class portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial schemes. You’ll be working directly with an Associate who is dedicated to mentoring you through the entire ICE or IStructE Chartership process. This is the opportunity you need to truly transition from a graduate scheme into a fully‑fledged, design‑responsible engineer.

Opportunity & Key Responsibilities

You will be joining a highly regarded national firm known for delivering complex site developments across the Midlands. Your role is crucial to project success, working across all stages from initial feasibility through to final construction delivery. You will rapidly develop sought‑after skills in design, project coordination and client communication.

  • Detailed Design and Technical Approval: Producing final drawings and calculations required for adoption and technical sign‑off, focusing heavily on S278, S38 Highways and S104 Drainage agreements.
  • Advanced Modelling: Preparing and manipulating 3D ground models using software such as Civil 3D for cut and fill analysis, volume calculations and road profiling.
  • Feasibility and Planning: Assisting with pre‑purchase feasibility studies, site appraisals and resolving planning conditions related to drainage, highways and flood risk.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as a key point of contact for clients, architects and external bodies, including the Environment Agency, Local Highway Authorities and Water Companies.
  • Professional Development: Proactively engaging in the company’s structured mentorship scheme with the ultimate goal of achieving Chartered Engineer status (ICE or IStructE).
  • Attending site inspections, client meetings and, on occasion, public inquiries, to represent the firm’s technical expertise.
What You Need to Bring

This role is perfectly suited for an ambitious engineer who thrives on responsibility and technical challenge.

Requirements
  • Approximately two years of relevant post‑graduate experience, ideally gained within a UK civil engineering consultancy environment.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Essential proficiency in design software, specifically AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or a similar industry‑standard design suite).
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem‑solving skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Benefits and Culture
  • Dedicated route to Chartership: Structured ICE training agreement with dedicated time and resources for your Professional Review.
  • Accelerated career growth: A clear pathway to Engineer and Senior Engineer grades, based on merit and technical competency, not just time served.
  • Varied projects: Exposure to a diverse mix of large‑scale residential, commercial and specialist industrial schemes, ensuring your experience portfolio is broad and robust.
  • Excellent location: A modern, well‑connected office in Warwick with a friendly, close‑knit team environment.
  • Work‑life balance: The firm promotes a healthy balance, supporting hybrid working options and providing comprehensive holiday and pension benefits.
