Job summary

JLL is running a structured APC programme to develop into a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) over 2–3 years, with exposure to professional and project work and dedicated APC support from Chartered Surveyors.

As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you’ll join a team of professionals, attend client meetings, visit properties, and prepare reports while building the competencies needed for chartership. Location is on-site in Glasgow.

Qualifications

• Degree – Minimum 2:2 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Building Surveying accredited by RICS.
• Interest in the property industry and how we can shape its future.
• You’ll be confident in communicating verbally and in written format to help with writing reports.
• Excellent time management skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced commercial property consultancy.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
• A curious mindset so you can learn and grow with us.
• A passion to contribute your thoughts, create fresh ideas, and challenge yourself to do more than you think you could

Responsibilities

• Working with and learning from a team of Chartered Building Surveyors and fantastic wider office network.
• Attending client meetings alongside experienced surveyors from the outset.
• Visiting properties to complete a wide range of inspections.
• Completing desktop research about properties.
• Preparing reports following inspections including technical due diligence, defect analysis, planned maintenance programmes and reinstatement cost assessments.
• Assisting with the preparation and negotiation of schedules of dilapidations.
• Preparing specification of works as part of a competitive tender exercise and analysing the tender returns.
• Assisting the Contract Administrator on a wide range of construction projects including site inspections to monitor progress, contractor meetings, valuations and issuing certificates under the contract.
• Assisting with the co-ordination of portfolio instructions.
• Keeping your knowledge up to date with relevant continuing professional development (CPD).
• Clear career progression beyond chartership
