Job summary

Arup is recruitment for Graduate Electrical Engineers across the UK. The role includes designing power distribution, lighting and protection systems, with 3D Revit MEP work and reports. An IET/CIBSE accredited path supports professional status and broad development within a multi‑disciplinary team.

You will work with Architects, Fire Engineers and other disciplines, gaining extensive training, networking, and opportunities across healthcare, science, industry and transport sectors.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Architectural, Mechatronics/Robotics or related engineering field, or Engineering Science.
  • IET, CIBSE or Engineering Council accredited course desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Office; ability to learn 3D design/digital automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design power distribution, lighting, fire detection, earthing and lightning protection systems for buildings.
  • Conduct short circuit, overcurrent coordination and maximum demand studies.
  • Perform lighting photometric modelling and develop electrical calculations.
  • Produce technical reports and work in 3D using Revit MEP.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Fire Engineers and other disciplines to develop designs.

We are currently recruiting Graduate Electrical Engineers to join our multi-disciplinary design teams across the UK. As well as an IET accredited training scheme to support you towards obtaining professional status, we offer excellent training and development opportunities to our colleagues. Responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design power distribution, lighting, fire detection, earthing and lightning protection systems with respect to buildings projects
  • Short circuit, overcurrent coordination and maximum demand studies
  • Lighting photometric modelling
  • Technical report writing,
  • Work in 3D using Revit MEP
  • Development of reports and electrical calculations
  • Working with Architects, Fire Engineers & other disciplines within Arup to develop designs
Is this role right for you?

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Architectural, Mechatronics/Robotics. General or Building Services Engineering, or Engineering Science is preferred, however a strong Bachelor's degrees in these subjects will also be considered
  • Studying, or have studied, an IET, CIBSE or Engineering Council accredited course
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Office and demonstrate an ability to learn new software within a working environment that utilises 3D design and digital automation.
  • Proficiency in excel, word and basic knowledge of building services
  • Enthusiasm for a career in building design, underpinned through a knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering
  • Organised approach to planning work and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate a creative and inquisitive approach to problem solving and seek to improve existing ways of working, by finding efficiencies in processes

To be considered for a graduate opportunity, your application must include a copy of your academic transcript and meet the following criteria:

  • Full working rights in the country of application
  • No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
  • Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
