AECOM in Manchester is seeking a Graduate Aviation Civil Engineer to support aviation pavement and civil infrastructure projects for airport clients. You’ll assist with design, planning, and construction support of runways, taxiways, aprons, and airfield lighting, gaining hands-on experience across all project stages.

Qualifications

  • BEng in Civil Engineering or Engineering Science 2:1 required or equivalent.
  • MEng in Civil Engineering or Engineering Science 2:1 would be an advantage and/or MSc in Aviation Planning.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • As Graduate Aviation Civil Engineer, you will be involved in Aviation Masterplanning, Feasibility and Assessment studies, Concept and Detailed Design development, Construction Support, Airport asset inspections, Geometrical airport planning, Apron Stand / Air Bridge planning, Aeronautical Ground Lighting and Signage design, Aircraft stand modelling and tracking.
  • You will assist with design, planning and construction support across airport projects and gain hands-on experience across all project stages.
  • Early work includes feasibility through to detailed design, attending meetings with design professionals, and increasing responsibility over time.

AECOMis actively seeking aGraduate Aviation Engineerto support a wide range of aviation-related pavement and civil infrastructure projects for airport clients. In this role, you will assist with the design, planning, and construction support of airport engineering projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, aircraft stands, boarding bridges, vehicle service roads, airfield lighting and signage, navigational aids, surface water drainage systems, utilities, and airfield asset inspection and rehabilitation. You’ll work on projects of varying scale and complexity, gaining valuable hands‑on experience across all stages of project delivery.

As a Graduate Aviation Civil Engineer, candidates will be involved in:

  • Aviation Masterplanning
  • Feasibility and Assessment studies
  • Concept and Detailed Design development
  • Construction Support
  • Airport asset inspections
  • Geometrical airport planning
  • Apron Stand / Air Bridge planning
  • Aeronautical Ground Lighting and Signage design
  • Aircraft stand modelling and tracking
  • Modelling of the airport environment in 3D

Early work with us will typically be assisting in developing our projects through the different stages, from initial feasibility through to detailed design, attending meetings and workshops with other design professionals. As you develop, you will be provided with opportunity to take on greater responsibility in supporting the management and delivery of projects from inception through to completion.

Qualifications
  • BEng in Civil Engineering or Engineering Science 2:1 (or equivalent)
  • MEng in Civil Engineering or Engineering Science 2:1 (or equivalent) would be an advantage and / or MSc in Aviation Planning
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
  • Good report writing skills beneficial
  • A strong understanding of IT skills required and experience with AutoCAD beneficial
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
  • Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus.
