About the Role

As a Graduate Associate Project Manager within National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), you will support the delivery of 17 critical new projects that help the UK Government connect 50GW of offshore wind by 2030. Working alongside experienced Project Managers you will gain hands‑on experience across engineering, procurement, commercial and construction activities. Your contributions will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality, time and cost.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, execution and monitoring of major electricity transmission projects.
  • Assist with commercial, contractual and financial management activities.
  • Help maintain the Quality Management System and support quality assurance processes.
  • Observe and monitor contractor activities on‑site, ensuring alignment with National Grid’s Safety, Health & Sustainability standards and UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Participate in the creation of innovative and compliant design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2:2 in an Electrical Engineering degree (or currently working towards this qualification).
  • Valid UK driving licence (or have completed the theory test and booked the practical test in time for assessment).
  • Flexibility to travel regularly within the role and throughout graduate development rotations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
Location & Travel Requirements

This role is based in Castle Donnintgon, Derby. The position involves regular travel to office locations and substations, primarily within the region surrounding your contractual base location. Occasional nationwide travel may also be required depending on project demands. You must live within a 45‑minute commute of the contractual base location.

Graduate Programme & Development

You will join an 18‑month graduate programme that includes three 6‑month placements across the UK. The programme provides tailored development pathways, leadership and technical skill building, 12‑month coaching and mentoring, and support for professional qualifications such as IET membership and chartership.
