Description

Summary: The role of a Procurement and Supply Chain Analyst is to provide commercial support to an infrastructure project. Your responsibility as a Procurement and Supply Chain Analyst is to support the Procurement Lead or Manager in sourcing the client the best value solution to a requirement through the sustainable allocation of risk between a client organisation and its supply chain. You will also support the client in exploring market opportunities and implementing strategies and processes that deliver the best possible procurement outcome to the client’s organisation, its stakeholders and its customers.

Supplier Market Management (SMM) will also be integral to this role. SMM is a function that supports the entire project lifecycle, from initial project strategy development to engaging with the market’s appetite for future opportunities and throughout procurement by understanding how Tier 1 contractors will support and engage the extended supply chain. This is critical in project delivery, ensuring market risks and potential constraints are analysed, captured and communicated to all stakeholders with the aim of supporting and preventing risks from materialising which can impact the overarching projects delivery against time, quality and cost.

Role Overview: As a Procurement and Supply Chain Analyst, you will spend 2-2.5 years working towards Chartered membership of a professional body while also gaining valuable work experience. You will be working towards becoming a professional with expert knowledge of procurement and supplier market management (SMM). The role will be varied as the Procurement and Supply Chain team is engaged across numerous programmes and sectors; the actual experience gained will be dependent on the team and sector you are working in. You will join the G&T Chartership Programme: Graduate pathway to ensure you can relate the theoretical aspects of your studies to actual work experience.

Working within a team, you will be assisting your Line Manager with various aspects of daily project work. This role will be expected to work with a certain level of autonomy while also knowing when to discuss and ask questions to ensure the best outcome. You will be building a solid knowledge base of your role, the firm and the industry, and how they all fit together.

General Responsibilities

  • Support Supply Chain engagement by actively participating in stakeholder engagement across market and sector stakeholders within the supply chain to achieve client objectives.
  • Develop skills to build custom reporting and risk management systems through Power BI to facilitate supply chain risk management for clients. This includes supporting the development of tools and processes that provide clients with actionable insights into their supply chain risks and opportunities.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to understand statistical trends and supply market risks for the purposes of detailed report writing, as well as assisting managers in producing findings reports, managing the data analysis to support informed decision making at senior management level.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their business objectives, providing insights and recommendations from a data perspective.
  • Manage the e‑procurement solution for specific categories/projects, ensuring all projects are advertised sufficiently, information is correct and meets any transparency requirements and procurement legislation.
  • Participate in team meetings for procurement, provide specialist guidance and enable the implementation of policy, projects and change initiatives, as well as providing monthly reports to the Procurement Manager which evidence successful delivery of projects.
