Job summary

Fifty One Degrees (51D) is looking for a Python-focused engineer who will join live client projects from week one. You’ll build AI agents, data pipelines, and shipping end-to-end solutions with mentorship from senior team members in a hybrid setup with London co-working spaces.

Graduate applicants are welcome, and you’ll work closely with leadership to drive value through AI tooling and practical implementation of systems.

• Practical knowledge of Python and an appetite to learn quickly.
• A strong grounding in computer science, maths or a related STEM subject.
• Curiosity, initiative and a genuine interest in building with AI.
• Enthusiastic to work alongside a diverse team, with broad perspectives and lived experiences
• The legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.

You will likely join live client projects from week one, in an engineering role with real accountability. Python-first, with exposure to a wide variety of software projects, and mentorship directly from senior team members.

• Location: Hybrid - with at least one or two days a month working from one of our London co-working office spaces

Who we are

Fifty One Degrees (51D) is a UK AI and data consultancy, founded in 2023 by Nick and Mark. Prior to 51D, our CEO Nick Harding founded and scaled the fintech Fluro to four million credit applications a year. Mark Somers (CPO) built 4most into the UK's largest independent credit risk consultancy.

We embed practitioners in client teams and build the best solution that will drive for maximum client value. Strategy, governance and training are also key, but we stay and build rather than hand over a document and leave.

We're a fast-growing startup with clients across a range of industries, such as financial services, retail, property and PR. The problems change often, and you'll see more in a year here than you would on the average graduate scheme.

This role combines client-facing consultant and software engineer. You'll need to fluently read, interpret, write and test production-level code; but you'll also spend time working closely with our clients.

A real part of what we do is AI enablement and strategy: helping client teams adopt AI tooling, redesigning how they work around it, and building the systems that make it stick. This means configuring and integrating as well as writing code from scratch. If you are looking for a role that's only heads-down engineering, this isn't it.
