Job description

Salford Medical Centre is a GP practice with over 15,000 patients. We are one of the fastest growing practice in Salford taking on average 200-300 registrations per month. We also have a branch practice: The Quays Practice which currently operates out of Ordsall Health Centre (M5 3PH)

We are looking to recruit an additional full time Receptionist / Administrators to work within our Reception & Administration team. We are looking someone to work 37.5 hours over 5 days.

The right candidate will be a hard working & organised team player. We are looking for someone who is flexible and eager to learn new skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) are essential and a good understanding of IT is desirable. Previous experience working in a GP practice or in a similar role would be an advantage however full training is provided in-house so inexperienced candidates should not be discouraged.

What the practice requires:

  • You must be able to work between the hours of 8am - 6:30pm
  • You must be able to work at BOTH sites.
  • We require flexibility to cover sickness / annual leave (sometimes at short notice)

About us

Salford Medical Centre is one of 10 practices that make up the Salford South East Primary Care Network.We are a long standing high achieving practice and at our last assessment were rated as Good by the CQC.

We work using the EMIS clinical system as well as using Footfall, Docman10, Ardens, Accurx, iPlato, Outlook.

Our practice has seen a lot of change in the last 3 years due to the opening of our branch site. We have grown from being under 4000 patients to 15,000 patients. The patient demographic at each of our sites is very different which provides variety in speaking to people from all walks of life as well as a different working environment and with different members of the team.

Due to our practice expending our clinical & administration teams have grown and diversified. Our team is a mix of ages and backgrounds giving a wealth of knowledge & support for any new starters.

Our clinical team consists of: 1 GP Partner, 11 Salaried GP's , 1 ANP, 2 Practice nurses, 2 HCA's, 1 Phlebotomist as well as access to our PCN Pharmacists & MSK Practitioners

Our clinical, nursing & administrative teams all work harmoniously together as they are all patient focused and driven towards providing the best care for our patients. We also continuously review our systems & processes in order to better meet our patients needs.

Job responsibilities

a.Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system

b.Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

c.Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

d.Signpostpatients to the correct service

e.Processincoming and outgoing mail

f.Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

g.Processreferrals to external agencies such as secondary care using the electronicreferral system (ERS)

h.Processcalling letters are requested

i.Processall DNA letters in accordance with current policy

j.Readcode data on EMIS

k.Photocopydocumentation as required

l.Fileand store records as required

m.Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired

n.Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

o.Scanningof patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patientshealthcare records

p.Manageall queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficientmanner

q.Carryout system searches as requested

r.Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

s.Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards

t.Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested

u.Managementof repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
