We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our nursing team.
Ideally, you will work 32 hours a week, between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering nursing services to our patients, including assessments, treatments, and health education.

Probus Surgery is a well-established Primary Care provider offering NHS services to a population of approximately 9,500 patients. Our main surgery is complemented by branch sites at The Merlin Centre and Tregony. Our clinical team includes GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, Nurses, HCAs, Pharmacists, Dispensers, Care Co-Ordinators, Social Prescribers, Receptionists, and Admin staff.
Job responsibilities
The core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse include:
- Assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring, signposting, and discharging patients in accordance with clinical evidence and NICE guidelines.
- Undertaking chronic disease reviews (e.g., diabetes, COPD, asthma, heart failure, learning disabilities).
- Conducting telephone triage.
- Collecting pathology specimens, including blood samples and swabs.
- Performing wound care and dressings, including leg ulcers.
- Undertaking smears and contraception/pill checks, supporting women's health clinics.
- Performing investigatory procedures as requested.
- Following infection control procedures.
- Ensuring safe storage of equipment and medications.
- Maintaining clinical standards and working within your competence.
- Communicating effectively to promote patient self-management and health education.
- Participating in vaccination programs and administering vaccines.
- Sharing knowledge with colleagues to promote best practices.
- Effective communication within the team to ensure quality service delivery.
- Working within Practice policies and procedures.
- Engaging in continuous professional development.
- Contributing to team effectiveness and efficiency.
- Maintaining good liaison with other practices and secondary care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- RGN diploma/degree
- NMC registration
Experience
- Experience working in a GP practice
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work flexibly both independently and as part of a team
- Experience managing long-term conditions
- Knowledge of SystmOne
- Experience with learning disabilities management
