Role

As a Practice Nurse, you will deliver chronic disease management, routine and child immunisations, wound care, travel vaccinations, cervical cytology, and support local commission services. You will have an integral role in health promotion, emergency support, and clinical governance.

Ideal Candidate
  • Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Council registration
  • Recognised qualifications to diploma level or above
  • Experience in a primary care environment, working autonomously
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and IT skills (including SystemOne)
  • Knowledge of chaperone procedure, clinical governance, and QOF
  • Experience with audit or clinical risk management (desirable)
  • Polite, confident, motivated, and committed to ongoing professional development
Key Duties
  • Chronic disease management (Diabetes, COPD & Asthma)
  • Routine and child immunisations
  • Wound care and dressings
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Cervical cytology
  • Knowledge of QOF, local commission and direct enhanced services
  • Implement and embed health promotion and wellbeing programmes
  • Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately
  • Support the team in clinical emergencies
  • Implement vaccination programmes for adults and children
  • Ensure practice chaperone policy compliance
  • Ear irrigation
  • Participate in clinical audits
  • Implement nursing protocols with the nursing team
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Recognised qualifications to diploma level or above
  • Non‑Medical prescriber (desirable)
Experience
  • Working in a primary care environment
  • Working autonomously
  • Knowledge of chaperone procedure
  • Broad knowledge of clinical governance
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes
  • Experience as a practice nurse in a GP surgery (desirable)
