Aim of the Role:To act as the principle interface between PML & Express Diagnostics and general practice, facilitating constructive relationships, ensuring smooth referral pathways, improving communication, capturing GP feedback, and contributing to service design, system insight, and integration between service pathways. Job Profile:

The GP Liaison Officer will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with GP practices across Greater Manchester. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of healthcare services, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organised, and passionate about improving healthcare delivery.

The role may require travel outside of the Greater Manchester region to provide ad hoc support in other territories.

Main duties of the job
  • Relationship & Stakeholder Management
  • Build, maintain, & deepen relationships with GP Practices, practice staff, PCNs, ICBs, clinical leads
  • First point of contact for GP queries, feedback, challenges, & liaison requests.
  • Represent PML/ED in GP forums, events & educational sessions.

Referral Management & Pathway Support

  • Provide support, guidance & clarity to GPs regarding referral criteria, guidelines, triage protocols, triage & turnaround.
  • Work with internal clinical services/departments

Local Health System Intelligence & Market Insight

  • Gather intelligence on local diagnostic providers, alternative pathways, & competitor services
  • Capture informal & formal feedback
  • Share insights internally

Service Development & Integration

  • Gather feedback
  • Participate in co-design of services, improvement initiatives, or transformation programmes
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in interface between pathways.
  • Support operational & commercial teams
  • Work with practices, PCNs & system partners
  • Contribute local intelligence to feasibility discussions for new sites, pop-up clinics, or pathway extensions.

Monitor and analyse Data, Insights and Reporting

Internal Collaboration and Intelligence Sharing

  • Provide regular updates to support planning and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the local health system, including PCN structures, ICB priorities, referral behaviours and service interdependencies.
  • Gather intelligence on local diagnostic providers, alternative pathways, and competitor services, including capacity, referral routes, turnaround times and perceived strengths or gaps.
  • Capture informal and formal feedback from GP practices regarding comparator services, system pressures, and unmet needs.
  • Share insights with the Commercial and Operational teams to inform service development, positioning, and local engagement strategies.
  • Service Development and Integration
  • Gather feedback from GPs on barriers, challenges, and opportunities in clinical pathways, pathway integrations and continuity of care.
  • Participate in co-design of services, improvement initiatives, or transformation programmes to ensure that GP perspectives are integrated.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in interface between pathways.
  • Support operational and commercial teams by identifying potential new locations, practices or community settings suitable for service expansion.
  • Work with practices, PCNs and system partners to understand local estate availability, access constraints and patient flow considerations.
  • Contribute local intelligence to feasibility discussions for new sites, pop-up clinics, or pathway extensions.

  • Monitor and analyse referral data, conversion rates, turnaround times

Maintenance of Personal Training Record

Protecting and safeguarding personal/sensitive information within their department.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The post holder is accountable to the Commercial Director and works closely with Operational and Service Delivery leads.
