Job description

GP Training Programme Director - Nine posts available for either 1 PA (4 hrs) or 2 PAs (8 hrs) at specific locations detailed below. GP training programmes continue to expand to meet population health needs and additional funding supports sessions across the SW GP training programme geography.

Applications are welcome from current TPDs who wish to take on an additional assignment (will need to be worked weds). The available sessions are to be worked mainly Wednesdays and are available to support work in the following locations: BNSSG 4 hrs/ 1 session Gloucestershire - 8 hrs/2 sessions Somerset - 8 hrs / 2 sessions Swindon - 8 hrs / 2 sessions Cornwall - 4 hrs / 1 session Exeter - 4 hrs / 1 session Plymouth - 4hrs / 1 session HEFT - 2 hrs /0.5 sessions combined with 0.5 sessions of patch TPD commitments Assessment - 8 hrs/ 2 sessions. Will be working with assessment team to support Assessment and ARCP across the region.

Patch allocations may be flexed to accommodate the location of the appointed HEFT TPD.

The role has a requirement to work mainly Wednesdays as this is the scheduled day for our Drs in Training (DiTs) half day release sessions, with some support for other GP training programmes across the South West. The Training Programme Director is focused on the improvement of learner supervision, assessment, educational experience and outcomes, and patient safety for GP trainees.

The successful applicant will work with other local TPDs and administrators to facilitate the provision of the half day release course for GPs in training. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and be responsible for facilitating the provision of education for General Practice trainees in the specified GP training programme.

This role will also include important work with our Educational and Clinical Supervisors to support and help them provide quality supervision and education for trainees. The role may involve delivery and oversight of projects and workstreams to support doctors in training and practice-based educators, including induction, one-to-one support, small group work, developing educational resources, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within our training programme, and being an escalation point for both educators and DiTs.
