A local healthcare provider in Bolton is seeking a part-time General Practice Assistant to support GPs in delivering patient care. The successful candidate will perform clinical observations and administrative tasks to free up GP time. Key responsibilities include managing appointments, preparing patients for consultations, and assisting with clinical duties. Ideal candidates will have strong organisational and communication skills, along with relevant training and experience in primary care. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive healthcare environment.
The post-holder will support the GPs smoothrunning of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinicaltasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient. Thesuccessful individual will perform clinical observations and skills onpatients, under direction from the GP. Please note that this is a PART TIME VACANCY / 7.5 HOUR PER WEEK.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviewingand coding of clinical correspondence and prioritising for the GP in terms ofactions required.
Signpostingcorrespondence to others members of the team such as clinical pharmacist etc.
Arrangingappointments, referrals, letters, tests and follow up appointments for patients
Preparingpatients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basicreadings in readiness for the GP appointment.
Dippingurine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, phlebotomy & vaccinations withincompetences (following adequate training).
Completingbasic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approveand sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc in linewith GPA Competency Framework 2
Explainingtreatment procedures to patients
Helpingthe GP liaise with outside agencies e.g., getting an on-call doctor on thephone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with theirconsultation(s)

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
