We have an exciting opportunity for an Admin/Results/Prescription Clerk to join our team. This is a busy practice and you will be very involved in patient care—from organising appointments, discussing results, working closely with our clinical triage team, assisting on the front of house, dealing with queries, organising paperwork for the clinical team, ringing patients to book specialist clinics, handling the movement of patient records, processing results, processing prescriptions, diarising call‑backs, answering the dedicated results phone line, and dealing with day‑to‑day enquiries for both results and prescriptions. Flexibility is essential as you will also be expected to cover for holidays and sickness. Pay is competitive and you will receive six weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro‑rated). Previous experience in general practice or another busy healthcare environment is essential.

Main duties of the job
  • Making appointments for patients following results tasks
  • Communicate with patients about results & prescriptions
  • Deal with online services such as Patchs, emails and GP Billing
  • Handling queries and requests regarding prescriptions
  • Lease with the Care home teams & in‑house pharmacists
  • Ensure outstanding queries are dealt with efficiently and in a timely manner

Job responsibilities

Prescription Clerk

  • Complete requests for prescriptions in a timely manner to allow them to be available to the patient within the 48‑hour window.
  • Establish constructive working relationships with pharmacies and patients.
  • Ensure that essential information is passed on to patients as instructed by doctors.
  • Check dates before issuing prescriptions and alert doctors to overdue and imminent medication reviews.
  • Enter and maintain computer records of drugs issued to patients.
  • Provide clerical support to the Prescribing Lead for specific prescribing targets.
  • Ensure medication changes are entered accurately and are up to date following consultation with GP or hospital referral.
  • Observe health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time‑to‑time.

Results Clerk

  • Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner and assist patients who are having problems with their results.
  • Assist patients with results queries on the telephone.
  • Relay accurate information regarding results of clinical tests/investigation to patients.
  • Maintain a computerised record of investigations, tests requested and results received from the hospital.
  • Manage cervical cytology results and prostate cancer test results.
  • Organise and maintain the diary for pre‑diabetes and DMARDs results, ensuring patients are booked in for their investigative tests in a timely manner.
  • Participate in providing holiday/sickness cover for other members of the admin team.
  • Scanning patient notes onto the clinical system.
  • Observe health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time‑to‑time.
