Job Description

I am recruiting for a Government Affairs Manager (UK & sole counsel) for an energy business in London. You will:

  • Protect and enhance the brand as a credible investor and operator in the market.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including decision makers in governmental and regulatory bodies as well as influencers and Trade Associations.
  • Be an advocate by engaging with working groups, industry committees, advisory panels and with energy policy decision-making authorities.
  • Communicate strategy and its context to relevant decision makers and influencers.
  • Monitor and analyse developments in the UK energy policy and energy markets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the business is prepared to address emerging issues and opportunities in the market.
  • Identify policy issues that affect the business assets, and future expansion strategy for the UK and work with colleagues across the business to determine business preferred outcome on relevant policy topics.
The Successful Applicant
  • 10+ years' experience working at senior level in UK energy industry
  • Significant experience and expertise in a government relations or regulatory function, preferably within the generation sector.
  • Proven analytical ability specifically for working with complex arguments on policy and regulatory topics.
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute to corporate Strategic and Policy objectives in GB.
  • Proven record of developing and communicating effective advocacy strategies.
  • Strong communication skills with strong emotional intelligence.
