Job Description

We're recruiting for a Governance, Risk and Controls Manager to join us.

The role forms part of the 1.5 Line of defence Governance, Risk and Controls team and will work closely with the wider team and to other key stakeholders across the business to enhance a strong Business risk and resilience capability in the first line of defence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Acting as a senior contact for business stakeholders to manage and deliver risk and controls oversight, enhancing the control environment and internal controls by chairing monthly forums, preparing analysis, and agreeing remediation plans
  • Reviewing errors, incidents, and issues, performing root cause analysis, monitoring trends and themes, and ensuring lessons learnt and actions are identified, agreed, and completed in line with internal policies
  • Leading deep dive and thematic reviews, risk and controls self‑assessments (RCSA), and assurance activities to investigate control weaknesses, delivering process maps and reports aligned to the Control Framework
  • Monitoring key risk and control indicators, providing updates and packs to Boards and Governance Committees, and chairing or attending relevant risk forums
  • Leading COO teams within the First Line, contributing to risk reporting, investigating customer impact areas, and ensuring timely issue remediation to support good customer outcomes under Consumer Duty
  • Supporting integration of broader risk and regulatory responsibilities across Operational Resilience, Data Management, GDPR, Third Party Risk, and the Control Environment Project
  • Championing risk awareness and capability across the business, partnering with senior leaders in First Line, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Group teams to embed risk into strategic decisions and transformation programs
  • Managing and developing direct reports in line with company policies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability
Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Excellent knowledge of Operational risk and Controls framework in financial services and good understanding of regulatory areas related to third parties, data management and operational resilience
  • Analytical - being able to execute data analysis effectively to inform and direct potential areas to be prioritised
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills and ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external networks
  • Excellent communication, planning, project management, networking and influencing skills and confident and able to present in structured manner
  • Risk and Controls self‑assessment ('RCSA') experience
  • Assurance, audit or risk management advisory roles
  • Proven record in managing and coaching team members to ensure activities are delivered within agreed timeframe
