Job Introduction

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Governance and Resources Officer to join our team on a one-year secondment opportunity to provide maternity cover . This is an exciting opportunity to support the Director and Senior Management Team in ensuring effective governance, decision-making, and resource management across the Directorate of Place and Growth .

About the Role

As a Governance and Resources Officer, you will provide support to senior leaders and officers, ensuring compliance with the Council's Constitution and scheme of delegation, as well as dealing with HR and recruitment matters . You'll play a key role in:

  • Managing and advising on member and delegateddecision-making processes;
  • Ensuring reports are produced to a high standard and in line with constitutional requirements;
  • Support and monitor recruitment within the Directorate;
  • Maintain accurate establishment and staffing records; and
  • Monitor the forward plan and implementation of key decisions
About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Isconfident in interpreting and applying governance frameworks and policy;
  • Understands thecommittee processes and isconfident working closely with senior stakeholders;
  • Understands the Council's recruitment processes and HR systems;
  • Is organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities with professionalism;
  • Is an excellent communicator, able to provide clear advice to colleagues; and
  • Is knowledgeable of local government operations and can navigate a complex political and organisational environment .
